The Tools of Research Are Changing at the U.S. Army Heritage and Education Center
Exciting changes are coming to the U.S. Army Heritage and Education Center, as the facility prepares to launch new interfaces for both its research catalog and its digital archive. These new, state of the art systems will make performing research and locating materials at the USAHEC much easier. Streamlined processes and updated technologies ensure users are able to quickly identify information in the USAHEC’s catalogue and more easily search the various digitized materials, including photographs, technical and field manuals, and manuscripts.

The Integrated Library System (ILS), USAHEC’s new research catalog scheduled to debut September 17, 2012, will feature many innovative options focused on accessibility for end users. These new features include the ability to save multiple searches, to receive email alerts when items of interest are added to the catalog, and to easily share citation information through email, text messaging, Facebook, and Twitter.

As an additional time saving feature, users can opt to simultaneously search the resources of the U.S. Army War College Library and the new USAHEC Digital Content System through the USAHEC Research Catalog. Simplifying and combining the search process will save users time and effort, as they seek out materials in the USAHEC’s collection. The new Digital Archive is slated to launch later this year. These new systems are part of the USAHEC’s long standing efforts to create and promote user-friendly systems enabling researchers to have the best access to the incredible materials that are part of the USAHEC’s collection.
