In 2010 and 2011, Prior was embedded with the U.S. Army’s famed 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), “The Screaming Eagles,” in some of the most dangerous combat zones in Afghanistan. Armed with a camera and a gritty determination to learn what the U.S. Army’s role in Afghanistan truly was, Prior spent a total of four months with combat troops from the 101st’s 4th Brigade Combat Team, “Currahee.”

 

Through hundreds of photographs and hours of interviews obtained along many, many miles traveled in convoys, on air assault missions and on foot patrols, Prior has managed to capture stories not often told through the mainstream media, while offering a vantage point for the average citizen to understand what military leaders know to be a highly volatile, unstable and complex mission almost a world away.
