Welcome to Carlisle Barracks

Fellow Senior Service College students, families and friends,

On behalf of the Commandant of the U.S. Army War College, MG Greg Martin, our faculty advisor, CAPT Hank Greenburg, USN, the Army War College Class of 2011 and the entire Carlisle Barracks Community, welcome to Jim Thorpe Sports Days (JTSD) 2011. This year's event will begin 14 April 2011 and will conclude with the Awards Ceremony and Barbeque 16 April 2011.

Our goal is to make your JTSD experience enjoyable and the events both competitive and safe. We have planned an "action-packed" weekend that includes 14 official sporting events, two exhibition events and two organized socials - a buffet dinner Friday evening and a barbeque in conjunction with the Awards Ceremony Saturday afternoon. JTSD provides an opportunity to mee t new friends, renew old friendships and acquaintances, and compete as comrades in arms. We cordially invite you to participate in all aspects of this year's JTSD. Whether it is to support your favorite athletes, visit friends, or simply enjoy the many recreational opportunities in the greater Carlisle and Harrisburg area.

We hope that Jim Thorpe Sports Days 2011 will rank amongst the most enjoyable and memorable events of your Senior Service College Year. We have a dedicated group of volunteers who hope to make your participation and attendance as smooth as possible. As Chairman, I look forward to seeing all of you on the fields, greens, courts and tracks. Let us not forget that at the end of JTSD 2011, we will still be a nation at war, and even though we may wear different unfiroms, work for different agencies or be of different nationalities, we are all definitively on the same team..
